It's important for Argos and us to contribute to the sustainability of the fruit and vegetable category. Packaging in this category adds a lot of value. This in areas like shelf life and appearance of the product. Moreover, Argos sees that the demand for packaging has received an extra boost. Hygiene and food safety now plays an even more important role. That is why it is essential that we keep innovating en find sustainable solutions together with our partners like Argos.

Vibers

The packaging is made of Vibers cardboard, which contains Dutch grown Elephant grass. So we also teamed up with Vibers, the manufacturer of this paper. Elephant grass is an alternative raw material for packaging. It grows in fallow soil and is planted only once. It's a perennial plant that yields 20 tons of dry biomass per hectare. Add that this grass absorbs four times more CO2 than a comparable plot of trees. These characteristics mean it could be considered a miracle crop.

We have made this sustainable packing under our brand Easyto Snack. A matching brand for this sustainable packaging, because all kinds of snack vegetables can be put in here. Dutch Packaging Awards

More good news! This packaging is nominated for the Dutch Packaging Awards 2020 in the category 'Sustainability'. Unfortunately the award ceremony will take place in 2021, because of the corona crisis. But that does not spoil the fun!
