Established in 1928, Valstar has been a family-owned company for three generations. With nearly 90 years of experience, Valstar has become a strong brand in the fresh produce sector.
Fa. M. Valstar is founded in Naaldwijk by Maart Valstar, descendant of an old “Westlandse” growersfamily. In mid-July of this year, Maart established himself as a trader on the newly built vegetable and fruit auction “Naaldwijk”. During the first years not only Dutch, but also German and English customers are being supplied.
The export activities are being expanded to other European countries: Sweden, Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium.
The name of the company has changed to M. Valstar & Co B.V. In this 25th anniversary year Valstar exports to 9 countries in Europe.
The new fruit and vegetable auction “Westland-Zuid” has been established in ‘s- Gravenzande. After 44 years, Valstar moves to the new auction, where everything is being dealt with on a bigger scale and more efficiently. On the image shown on the left, much work is being done from the new office in ‘s-Gravenzande in 1989.

90-year anniversary of Best Fresh (the current Valstar), where we introduced the Best Fresh’s new corporate identity and strategy. This was celebrated with our “Best Freshtival.”
